Zhang Jiguang, principal of Wuchang Experimental Primary School in Central China's Hubei province, said in response to parents who had asked "what does education mean to a school". His opinion was both echoed and criticized by other education experts, Chutian Metropolis Daily reported on May 25.

"Every society has to come up with some means to remind its people, while pursuing economic profit, of their responsibility to others. Therefore we need ethics education to tell people about morality, and remind them apart from business, there is morality."
