2,000 yuan ($308) fine

for a passenger who refused to turn off his cell phone on a flight from Dalian city, Liaoning province, according to a report by China National Radio on May 26. The passenger put the phone on flight mode, which suspends a cell phone's signal-receiving-transmitting functions; but China prohibits the use of the mode because the civil aviation authorities have not accredited its safety.

4,000 yuan ($615)
