How to avoid 'Chinese classes'
Be cautious in choosing a school. Before applying, students and parents need to know a great deal about a school - its background, reputation, financial support, faculty resources, recruitment plan, and the proportion of international students generally and Chinese students in particular. With that information, they can reduce the chances of enrollment in 'Chinese class.'
Prepare mentally before going abroad. The realities of overseas study include not only alien sights and a possible uncomfortable life, but also loneliness and other difficulties. Students who know what problems they might encounter and how to deal with them are unlikely to be frightened by them.
