Philanthropy to be audited
China plans to build a philanthropy information platform in the next five years, Beijing Times reported, citing an official with the Ministry of Civil Affaires (MCA). According to Zheng Yuanchang, who heads the charity and social donation department of the MCA, the ministry is considering establishing a relatively comprehensive database so that the size of the donations will be more transparent and reliable. Later in April, Forbes, hurun.net and China Philanthropy Times released their own charity lists in China, creating two "top philanthropists", the report said. Chen Guangbiao, one of the most controversial philanthropists in China, made eighth on Hurun's rich list, 22nd on Forbes, and didn't get listed on China Philanthropy Times' list.
