BFA to host conferences
The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) will host the BFA Energy, Resources & Sustainable Development Conference on July 11-12 in Perth, Australia. It will also host the BFA International Capital Conference in Paris in late November, said Zhou Wenzhong, secretary general of the BFA, on Thursday.
H&M branch opens in Yunnan
A new branch of H&M AB opened on Friday in Kunming, Yunnan province, bringing the number of the retailer's Chinese branches to 55.
Lex Keijser, general manager of H&M China, revealed at the opening ceremony that the company is aiming to open 35 branches in China within this year.
3G users reach 70 million
The number of 3G users in China is currently around 70 million, said Xi Guohua, vice-minister of industry and information technology. Xi made the remarks at a Beijing forum on Friday. He said that besides 3G,the Chinese government will also support the development and globalization of the homegrown fourth generation TD-LTE (time division-long term evolution) technology.
Machinery event to be held in Oct
The 2011 Summit of World Construction Machinery Industry, hosted by industrial associations from China, the United States, Japan and South Korea, will be held on in Beijing on October 19 and 20.
The list of "2011 World Top 50 Construction Machinery Manufacturers" will be released during the event. The number of Chinese companies included totaled 10, with three among the top 10.
APEC forum closed Friday
The second session of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Urban Intelligence Industry Forum closed on Friday in Langfang, Hebei province.
The event highlighted cooperation among local governments, enterprises and related research institutions to build IT-based intelligent urban-management systems.
The two-day forum also called on APEC economies to join hands to set up related networks aiming at reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
