Charges for people who spread sex diseases

By Li Yao | China Daily | Updated: 2011-05-19 07:54

Beijing - People will be held liable for intentionally spreading sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), the Ministry of Health stated in its draft amendment to the regulation on STD prevention and treatment.

People that intentionally spread an STD will face financial and even criminal penalties, depending on the damage caused, according to the new amendments.

The amended law requires STD sufferers to take precautions to prevent transmitting a disease to others, while the current regulation, which has been in force since 1991, only required them to seek timely treatment.
