Three women arrested in 'want-a-stud' scam

Police in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, arrested a gang of three women who conned money from 59 people across the country.

According to police, the suspects led by Liu Xiufang, put advertisements in an illegal paper in May 2010, saying that a rich woman, whose husband was ill, was offering 6.5 million yuan ($99,870) for a young man willing to get her pregnant. Anyone answering the ad was asked to send some money to show his sincerity.
