Mainland gets edge in offices

The inadequate supply in Hong Kong's office market and the turmoil in tsunami-hit Japan may increase the demand for quality office resources in the Chinese mainland's first-tier cities such as Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen, executives of Cushman & Wakefield, a New York-based real estate service company, said on Tuesday.

Foxconn joins iPad 2 suppliers

Apple Inc has agreed to add Foxconn Technology Group affiliate Chimei Innolux Corp as its third supplier of sensors for the iPad 2's touch screen, two people familiar with the matter said.

Chimei Innolux will begin supplying the components next month, said the sources, who declined to be identified.

Pentax Medical opens China site

Pentax Medical Co Ltd, which has been invested in by Hoya, a leading optical brand, announced on Tuesday it has opened its first Chinese office, in Shanghai, to seize opportunities in the country's medical device industry.

Global President of Hoya (Pentax) Lifecare Chris N. Japp said: "Pentax's expertise and knowledge in medical endoscopic technology, with its additional strength after merging with Hoya, will secure our global leading position in the field."
