NATO-led air strikes continue in Libya

Military effort has yet to deliver fatal blow to Gadhafi's forces

Beijing / Washington - The NATO-commanded coalition air force continued to strike Libyan ground forces early Friday, with global efforts to mediate for a cease-fire in the North African country in full swing.

Western warplanes struck at a strategically important eastern town, pursuing a nearly week-old campaign that has yet to deliver a crippling blow to Muammar Gadhafi's tanks and artillery.
