A 15-strong emergency response team was sent on Sunday in order to give assistance, alongside teams from Western nations, to the overstretched Japanese search and rescue operations.
The reaction of Beijingers was naturally one of shock and sympathy. The great majority of netizens in the city expressed their condolences and deepest regret that such a tragedy has befallen an Asian neighbor.
