CPIC to expand capacity

China Power Investment Corp plans to spend 400 billion yuan ($60.8 billion) to expand capacity during the five years from 2011 to 2015, President Lu Qizhou said on Friday.

The company plans to increase capacity to 100 gigawatts (gW) by 2015 from the current figure of 70 gW, Lu said. Non-coal power generation will account for a larger proportion of total capacity, rising to 40 percent in 2015 from 30 percent at present, Lu said, adding that the company will mainly use bank loans to finance its expansion.
