NATO, EU to begin talks on no-fly zone

China Daily | Updated: 2011-03-11 08:01

Tripoli, Libya - NATO and the European Union begin talks on Thursday on a possible no-fly zone over Libya.

Referring to NATO's suggestion to establish a no-fly zone in Libya, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told a regular news conference on Thursday that the United Nations Security Council has passed the resolution 1970, imposing arms embargo, travel bans and asset freezes on Gadhafi and his family, and the international community should implement the resolution.

Whether further measures should be taken depends on the situation in Libya as well as the consultation among council members.
