RAS LANOUF, Libya - Libyan helicopter gunships fired on a rebel force advancing west toward the capital Tripoli along the country's Mediterranean coastline on Sunday and forces loyal to leader Muammar Gadhafi engaged in intense ground battles with the rival fighters.
