Cambodia
Traffic accident kills 19: Police
Nineteen people were killed and at least seven others seriously injured on Friday in one of Cambodia's worst-ever traffic accidents, police said.
The head-on crash happened when a truck slammed into a van packed with passengers in the popular southern beach town of Sihanoukville.
"There are 19 dead at the scene," Sihanoukville Traffic Police Chief Prum Pov said.
Republic of Korea
Cyber attacks target websites
The Republic of Korea issued a cyber security alert as the websites of 29 government and other agencies came under attack on Friday, the Korea Communications Commission said.
A commission spokesman said the DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks had initially been expected to hit 40 websites but only 29 were actually affected.
They included those of the presidential Blue House, the US forces, the military Joint Chiefs of Staff, the ministries of foreign affairs, defense and unification, parliament and the tax office.
Germany
Shooter's gun jammed
The pistol used by the 21-year-old who admits killing two US airmen at Frankfurt Airport was jammed with six rounds left, possibly saving the lives of other airmen, a German investigator said on Friday.
Two other US air force personnel were wounded in the attack on Wednesday by Arid Uka, an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo.
Uka refused to speak when formally charged on Thursday before a judge with two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder. But he made lengthy statements to police shortly after the attack, according to prosecutor Rainer Griesbaum.
