Grandfather's rare banknote could fetch man 20,000 yuan

China Scene: East

A resident of Xiamen city, Fujian province, recently found a 3-yuan (46 cents) banknote that is no longer used and rarely seen now.

The green note, printed in 1953, belongs to the second series of yuan banknotes. Due to China's backward printing technology then, the 3-yuan notes, together with 5-yuan and 10-yuan ones, were printed in the former Soviet Union.
