BEIJING - Employers who intentionally withhold their workers' pay will face up to seven years in prison, according to the latest draft amendment of the Criminal Law.
The amendment that was submitted for third reading on Wednesday targets employers who conceal their assets or flee, and those who refuse to follow orders from the government's labor department.
Those convicted of more "serious offences" could face jail terms of between three and seven years, according to the bill that was submitted to the bimonthly session of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee.
