China complains of Huawei deal

The Ministry of Commerce has urged US authorities to avoid protectionism and treat investors from China and other parts of the world in an equal, fair and open manner. An unnamed official in the ministry's department of foreign investment and economic cooperation made the remarks in a statement on Monday when commenting on the failure of the Chinese telecom equipment maker, Huawei Technologies', to acquire the US firm 3 Leaf.

Huawei was advised by the US Committee of Foreign Investment to withdraw from the deal because of national security concerns.
