Building a city with branding strategy and new industries

Authorities in the city of Chaozhou say that their support of key projects and attempts to optimize their industrial structure and come up with a branding strategy have been paying off.
The city has seen its GDP grow 13.1 percent year-on-year, over the past five years; with revenues growing 21.8 percent. Also, there have been improvements in the industrial structure, statistics indicate.
The city spent 7.9 billion yuan ($1.2 billion) on a large number of key projects in 2010, ranging from transportation infrastructure to energy and water conservation. There were also plans for 35.87 billion yuan to be spent on another set of projects on Guangdong's list of key projects for 2010.
