No happy valentine for one chinese fan

By Tang Zhe | China Daily | Updated: 2011-02-16 07:54

As soccer great Ronaldo wept while announcing his retirement from the game on Monday, his supporters in China were saddened as well.

Diehard Ronaldo fan Jia Bo was expecting to spend a romantic Valentine's Day with his girlfriend, but things went awry when he heard the news Ronaldo had decided to hang up his boots.

"There's always a time for a player to retire, but I didn't expect it to come so suddenly," said Jia, a graduate at Jilin University, who has followed Ronaldo's illustrious career for more than 15 years.
