Brave policeman saves man from icy fishpond

A policeman in Beihai, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, jumped into an icy fishpond to rescue a mentally retarded man on Friday.

The man's father, surnamed Xie, said that his 38-year-old son snuck out of their home after he and his wife fell asleep. Villagers nearby later found the son in the fishpond and, after trying in vain to get him to grasp a rope, called the police.
