Foreign students and expats raised the roof at Laoshe Teahouse on Sunday when they performed one of the most difficult traditional Chinese art forms there is: crosstalk.
As part of an authentic variety show to celebrate the lunar new year, actors from the United States, France, Ireland, Iran, Canada and Romania, as well as other countries, had customers at the famous venue rolling with laughter thanks to their witty repartee.
The traditional standup comedy style, which is usually performed by two people, was featured in a program that included Chinese songs, Peking Opera, and kungfu. It is the first time Laoshe Teahouse has held such exotic Spring Festival entertainment.
