Son accused of killing father
The police detained a teenager in Chengde, a city in Hebei province, after coming to suspect that the 17-year-old had beat his father to death after meeting with a refusal in his request for a red envelop containing 100 yuan ($15).
The suspect, surnamed Wang, demanded a 100-yuan note from his father during the Chinese lunar new year in accordance with a tradition that has parents mark the holiday by giving their children money in red envelopes. At being rejected, Wang began to kick his father.
