US Open champion Kim Clijsters was placed in the bottom half of the women's singles draw away from world No 1 Caroline Wozniacki in the official draw on Friday for next week's Australian Open.
Third seed Clijsters, the bookmakers' tournament favorite, will open against former Australian Open finalist Dinara Safina of Russia.
Wozniacki, the top ranked women's player but yet to win a Grand Slam tournament, takes on Argentina's Gisela Dulko in the opening round.
