Yakitori and sake in Wuhan

A bright light shouldn't hide under a bushel basket, and tucked away in a corner of Wuhan city, red lanterns hanging outside a Japanese restaurant advertises the attractions indoors.

The newly opened Tori-ji lies in the basement of the Shangri-La Hotel, and already it is becoming regular habitat for those with a penchant for yakitori and sake. Here, they are assured the chefs will deliver authentic Japanese flavors.

The first thing you notice as you enter the restaurant are the little bamboo plaques hanging on the wall touting the signature dishes - just like in all traditional yakitori bars in Japan.
