Winning isn't everything for Norihide

GUANGZHOU - Like many disabled athletes, Japanese swimmer Inui Norihide came to the Asian Para Games to show that competing is just as important as chasing medals.

"I have put a lot of effort into swimming," said Norihide, who started practicing for competitions in 2006 at the age of 34. "The Chinese swimmers are very fast, but I am also a winner," he said.

Though he has had no particularly outstanding performances at the international level, Norihide simply loves to compete and has been a regular fixture at the Aoti Aquatics Center, where he has taken part in the 100m butterfly S8, 100m breaststroke SB8, 200m individual medley SM8 and 50m freestyle S8.
