Ricky Wong, chairman of City Telecom (HK) Ltd

Wong founded City Telecom (HK) Ltd with his cousin Paul Cheung, in 1992.

City Telecom is known for having provided Hong Kong's first long distance, call back service, which gave people cheap long distance calls and broke the city's monopoly on the long distance call market.

In 1999, Wong established a subsidiary broadband Internet service - Hong Kong Broadband Network Ltd. This provided a cheaper alternative to dial-up, breaking the monopoly in fixed telecommunications and making HK Broadband a leader in such services in Hong Kong.
