Coach a 'loser' despite victory

China Daily | Updated: 2010-11-17 08:02

China coach Li Xiaopeng accepted the blame after the Chinese women's soccer team reached the semifinals with a narrow 1-0 defeat of Vietnam on Tuesday.

"Our team won, but as a coach I lost the match," he said. "It's just like playing poker. I had the queen and king in my hand but failed to play a good game."

The Guangzhou Asian Games host nation won when Qu Shanshan scored on a disputed free kick in the 87th minute at University City Stadium.
