Energy saving potential highlighted

China has the potential to save energy by 30 to 50 percent during the next 10 years, and could save up to 1.33 billion tons of standard coal, calculating on the energy consumption standards of 2007, said Xie Kechang, deputy president of Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Meanwhile, strategic emerging industries are scheduled to contribute around 8 percent of China's GDP by the year 2015 and 15 percent by 2020, said Peng Sen, vice-chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission.

Adidas to open more Chinese stores

Adidas AG will increase the number of its stores in China by 9 percent to 6,100 by the end of 2011.

CEO Herbert Hainer said the firm plans 500 net store openings in China.

The clothing and footwear market in China may be worth 334 billion yuan ($50 billion) in 2010.
