Zhejiang's trademark strategy is crucial to the province's economic transformation, providing "a dynamic space for further expansion amid fierce market competition", said Zheng Yumin, director general of the provincial administration of industry and commerce.

The number of domestically registered trademarks in the province surpassed 410,000 in 2009. More than 80 percent are in the manufacturing industry, while about 50,000 are related to agriculture, 2,346 are provincially famous brands and 148 have secured status as well-known trademarks.

The province also has 104 approved geographical indications for products.
