Illegal additions to homes have been springing up, prompting residents to get into disputes with neighbors and seek protection from the law.

Recent clashes over ad hoc extensions to homes have highlighted problems, say critics, who would like the law to act faster.

One such disgruntled neighbor is a Singaporean man, surnamed Goh, who lives in a detached home in a villa community near the Airport Expressway.
