Law must be above money power

Vested interests have been using their power and money to violate people's rights, making a mockery of the social order because of the flaw in the legal and governance systems, says an article in Yangtze Daily, excerpts:

Yu Haibo, a 33-year-old billionaire of Chongqing city, marshaled hundreds of henchmen to block roads and punch policemen after his unauthorized buildings were demolished on Sept 30. Li Qiming, 22, knocked down two female students of Hebei University and drove to a dormitory to meet with his girlfriend on Oct 22. When he was stopped by angry witnesses, he screamed that his father was Li Gang, a deputy director of a local public security bureau. One of the students he knocked down died and the other was seriously injured.
