Five stand trial for alleged sex assault of girl

SHANGHAI - Five men, including two police officers, who allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl who then jumped to her death, appeared in court in Fenghuang county in Central China's Hunan province on Friday, earlier than the victim's family had been expecting.

Family members said they had not received any notice about the start of the trial.

Earlier, local officials had told them the case would not be heard until the end of this month, cqnews.net, a news portal in Chongqing municipality, reported on Friday.
