Unwelcome visitors are bugging Beijing

By Wu Wencong | China Daily | Updated: 2010-10-20 08:23

Experts warn that pests are threatening the capital's ecosystem as infestations have been reported in Beijing for more than a week, although government officials say it's all under control.

"Caterpillars have not only taken complete possession of the trees, they are even all over the ceiling and on the walls," a resident surnamed Liu from Fengtai district, told Beijing Times on Monday.

In the past week, districts including Dongcheng, Chaoyang and Shijingshan have seen an infestation of American white moth caterpillars.
