'Fake counterfeit banknotes' land 'victims' in trouble

A court in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, recently sentenced three people to three years in prison with a five-year reprieve each for purchasing counterfeit banknotes.

Last June, one of the convicts, surnamed Wu, and his wife, Guo, bought counterfeit money worth 90,000 yuan ($13,484) from a group of scammers, only to realize the banknotes were faked with plain paper instead of better counterfeiting material.
