Scenic spot herdsmen asked to join tourism industry

The management committee of Tianchi Lake, a major tourism spot located about 100 km from Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, has banned herding on the picturesque grassland.

Some 80,000 cattle and sheep will be moved out of the area to restore and protect the magnificent but fragile alpine lake grassland.
