Fraud fools antique dealer by altering year on banknotes

A shop owner at an antique market in Shenyang, Liaoning province, was almost duped of more than 10,000 yuan ($1,492) when he bought eight "1980-edition" 50-yuan notes from a fraud.

When the shopkeeper tried to resell the antique notes, he realized the issuing year on the notes was altered with a chemical. The notes were actually printed in 1990.
