Tendulkar named Player of the Year

BANGALORE - Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar won the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Cricketer of the Year award while teammate Virender Sehwag was adjudged the Test Cricketer of the Year on Wednesday.
Tendulkar staved off challenges from Sehwag, South African batsman Hashim Amla and England off-spinner Graeme Swann to lift the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.
The prolific Indian batsman also bagged the inaugural People's Choice award and featured in both the Test and one-day international teams of the year.
