Shanghai Times Square

Pictures by 63 photographers from Hong Kong will be exhibited. Hosted by the Hong Kong Institute of Professional Photographers (HKIPP), the exhibition showcases one photograph by each of the 63 artists, presenting diverse city scenes of Hong Kong.

The HKIPP is recognized as the most prestigious photographic organization in the region, with a well-established circle comprising the best local professional photographers. Besides organizing regular meetings and seminars associated with photography technique and skills, it frequently exchanges concepts with overseas photographers and professionals in other fields to enhance members' knowledge.

International Channel Shanghai

Built upon the great success enjoyed by the 12-episode reality show Shanghai Rush in 2009, ICS has produced another big TV series called China Rush in this Expo year.

The Amazing Race: China Rush premiered on August 8 on ICS and will be shown every Sunday at 8 pm. CCTV News will air it internationally every Saturday night at 11:15 pm, starting on August 14. The competition will adopt the last-one-out system. Ten teams will visit 11 cities across China, and only one team will survive and take home the grand prize - a world tour provided by Travelzen.com.

LifeHub@Daning

The seventh day of the seventh month on the Chinese lunar calendar, which falls on August 16, is the Qixi festival, an occasion for Chinese women to celebrate traditional handicrafts. LifeHub@Daning will put on a series of events from August 14-16.

The shopping mall will invite international award-winning jewelry designers to help visitors create their own jewelry designs.

Romantic movies will be shown in the open square, and flower arrangement shows will be given.

Australia Pavilion

The Australia Pavilion will celebrate Oceania Month in August. The Pavilion will host a unique line-up of artists from the Torres Strait Islands and Australian mainland in a celebration of creativity, energy and pride in the country's indigenous cultures. Artists will include the Ariw Poenipan Torres Strait Cultural Group, the Mornington Island Aboriginal Dancers and B2M, a contemporary Aboriginal singing group. In addition, Aboriginal visual artists Wendy Nungarrayi Brown and Alma Nungarrayi Granites from central Australia will demonstrate their distinctive art on canvas.

Shanghai Archives Museum

An exhibition on China's involvement in World Expos since the 1800s presents nearly 100 historical items and 200 photographs. The exhibition shows that in the early years of the World Expo, China took its traditional crafts and agricultural products to the event. Since the 1950s, China dreamed of hosting the Expo. When Shanghai won the opportunity to host the Expo 2010, the city made many plans to improve its public facilities and city landscape.

The exhibition designed for the Expo 2010 Shanghai will continue until the end of the year.

Shanghai Archives Museum is open to public from 9 am to 5 pm daily except Sunday and a large amount of historical documents concerning the city is accessible to the public.

Italy Pavilion

Videos showcasing UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy are being presented at the Italy Pavilion in the Expo Garden. Aimed at introducing young audiences in China to the rich cultural heritage of Italy, especially the lesser-known UNESCO World Heritage Sites outside of Rome, Venice, Naples, Milan and Florence, the exhibition, called Italian Heritage and Arts, lasts until Sept 4.

The videos are presented in six arcades, each featuring five different UNESCO World Heritage Sites. "Just like Italians who are fascinated by China's wisdom and beauty, Chinese are also fascinated by the Italian way of life, its style and elegance," said Umberto Vattani of the Italian Trade Commission. "We want to look beyond all this and share our experiences in protecting and developing our cultural heritage."

Shangbo Art Gallery

An exhibition of movie prototypes is being held at the Shangbo Art Gallery at the Shanghai Dongfang Shangbo Creative Zone. More than 1,000 prototype models and original drafts of character designs are exhibited. Characters in blockbuster movies such as Aliens, Spiderman and Lord of the Rings, among others, are presented in vivid detail.

The exhibition lasts until Nov 8.
