Preserve the best lanes for pedestrians

Beijing is generally an exciting and fascinating city, with many plusses, particularly from its history and cultural life.

However, given the capital's size and population, it is really lacking in the number of pedestrian streets it has.

To be sure, Beijing's historic hutong have always functioned as pedestrian lanes. However, in recent years, two-thirds of the hutong neighborhoods have been torn down.
