Men, cast off your chains. Set yourselves free!
It's about time men stood up for themselves and demanded equality with women. We should be proud of our economic, political and social achievements, says writer Hai Yan, who is behind a movement to promote the rights of the "weaker sex" and establish an annual "International Men's Day" on Aug 3.
The playwright, together with boy band Yu Quan, appeared at a Trends Media press conference on Tuesday, in Beijing, in order to promote sexual equality in the fashion industry. They were supported in their call for action by four men's fashion magazines.
"Men also need to be cared for and loved," Hai told reporters, adding he looked forward to the day when men will be on an equal footing with women. He said most cover models are women and called on the media to give male models equal opportunity.
