Ming Tomb Reservoir bans BBQs

China Daily | Updated: 2010-07-21 07:54

Owing to too many people swimming, fishing, and barbecuing at the Ming Tomb Reservoir, the management has "shut down" the reservoir and is prohibiting these activities.

Many citizens reported to the environmental protection department of Changping District that people were setting up stalls without permission and crossing the fence to fish in the pool.

People were also inclined to have barbecues around the lake at the weekend, which polluted the water and resulted in mountains of rubbish. Nearly 4,000 bags of rubbish were collected in the last two weeks.
