Crackdowns have hit prostitution, gambling and drug dealing

Prostitution cases in Beijing have dropped by 30 percent so far this year, to a historical new low, after the Beijing Public Security Bureau started a special action on April 11 to crack down on prostitution in the city, according to a report released at a press conference on Tuesday.

Taking a "zero tolerance" approach to prostitution, the bureau has cracked more than 240 prostitution rings, and seized more than 150 suspects involved in organizing, accommodating and introducing prostitutes.
