Owen defends under-fire striker Rooney

LONDON - Manchester United striker Michael Owen on Thursday defended under-fire teammate Wayne Rooney following his lackluster performance for England in the World Cup.
Rooney returned from South Africa without a goal to his name despite being tipped to take the competition by storm.
But Owen is confident the 24-year-old can get back to his best after a summer break.
