Unlike other international media companies, Discovery has forged a successful presence in China built on a strong partnership with a local documentary production company, Liu Wei reports
Discovery Networks International has discovered its own roadmap in China, where a populous market co-exists with governmental restrictions. By focusing on the country's natural and cultural diversities, it has gained a fair share of the country's TV market and avoided the ideological tangle other international media companies often feel challenged to overcome.
The owner of more than 100 network feeds around the world came to China as early as 1997, with its programs broadcast on several Chinese TV channels.
