Getting in, out of area no easy task

When I heard the dike upstream from Changkai town was breached, I was about 100 km away in Yujiang county, eastern Jiangxi province. Within minutes, I was on the road and heading to the flood zone.

Due to the bad weather, traffic on the highway was very bad and there were constant delays. We met many people who were as anxious as we were to figure out which way was the fastest.

And it was just as busy and chaotic in Changkai when we finally arrived. Everyone was trying to board a rescue boat to get back to their homes and get their family out. Unable to find one, some tried to use wooden boats, shabby rafts or even large car tires to return to the flood zone.
