I received a couple of "death threats" from fellow English fans after my previous column saying we weren't good enough to win the World Cup.

In the same article, I added it's wise not to have unrealistic expectations, since arrogance comes before a fall. And I still stand by my words.

Well, we narrowly avoided following the French and Italians, who were deservedly kicked out of the competition by better teams and are now the object of global derision.
