Fame for TV anchor

China Daily | Updated: 2010-06-25 07:49

BEIJING - A China Central Television (CCTV) anchor has become the talk of the town after he interrupted a flood-control official's bureaucratic answers twice during a live interview about the floods in East China's Jiangxi province.

Following heavy rains and floods in the province since June 13, the Fuhe River breached its banks on the Changkai section on Monday, threatening the lives of 145,000 residents who live in five towns located near the lower reaches.

Qiu Qiming, the anchor of a program called 24 hours, interviewed Ping Qijun, deputy director of the office of Jiangxi provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters, live on the telephone on June 21.
