Initiative also aims to cut HIV/AIDS rates

Migrant drug addicts in Beijing will be eligible to obtain methadone without showing temporary residence permits, an official from the Beijing health bureau said on Tuesday.

"This will better help those migrants to get safe addiction treatment. To some extent, it will also prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS," said Fang Laiying, director of the health bureau.
