Festival draws slew of indie films

By Phyllis Zhu | China Daily | Updated: 2010-06-18 07:53

On its fourth run, the Beijing International Movie Festival brings a slew of independent films from around the world to the nation's capital.

Started by Pennsylvania native Peter Sallade, the non-profit festival is a three-week affair that strives to promote cultural awareness and generate interest in Beijing as a center for independent film.

More importantly, the festival advertises itself as a "celebration", where movie buffs, directors and amateur filmmakers can get together to watch a good film.
