Driver charged with running down police officer

A drunken driver who allegedly escaped after hurting a policeman early this month was charged by Xuanwu police on June 14 with intentional damage.
The policeman, He Yu, is still in hospital in a coma, and has head and chest injuries. Wang Ning, director of neurosurgery at Xuanwu Hospital said that He's life was still in the balance, according to Beijing News.
Beijing Morning Post reported that Xuanwu police were doing safety checks in Guang'anmenwai Street on June 8 and erected two barricades. At about 1 am a white minibus ran the first barricade without reducing speed.
